At Killinghall Wastewater Treatment Works, Hyperion Robotics partnered with Mott MacDonald Bentley and Yorkshire Water to redefine sustainable construction. By combining cutting-edge 3D printing technology with optimised designs, we delivered two state-of-the-art split flow chambers. This innovative approach not only reduced environmental impact but also set a new standard for efficiency and durability, earning the project the prestigious 2025 ICE Yorkshire and Humber Net Zero Award.

One of the standout achievements was a 44% reduction in material use, saving 11.2 cubic meters of concrete and cutting 27 tonnes of transportation requirements. We also achieved a 38% reduction in embodied carbon emissions, preventing over 2,000 kilograms of CO2 from entering the atmosphere. These advancements supported Yorkshire Water’s environmental goals while showcasing the power of sustainable construction methods.

The project delivered incredible savings and efficiency. Costs were cut in half compared to traditional methods, while the chambers were produced and installed at an unprecedented speed. From design approval to completion, the entire process took just weeks. Once transported to the site, installation was completed in just one day, minimising disruption and ensuring a safer, more streamlined process.
